The Third General Population and Housing Census (RGPH3) is continuing across Chad with a significant reinforcement of resources in the Kanem Province. In Ziguey, a delegation from the Patriotic Salvation Movement (MPS), led by Louky Ousman Bouky, Director General and member of the party’s National Political Council (CPN), carried out a mission aimed at supporting field teams and raising public awareness of the importance of this nationwide operation.
As part of the party’s efforts to support the authorities responsible for the census, the mission brought together several senior MPS officials, including Dr. Abakar Ousman, General Koré Abakar, Secretary-General Hamid Hassan Elefi, as well as several provincial advisers and party executives. Upon their arrival in Ziguey on Thursday, July 22, 2026, they received a warm welcome from administrative authorities, civil and military officials, traditional leaders, representatives of women and youth, and local communities, reflecting the strong public interest in this major national initiative.
During his address, the head of the mission emphasized that the RGPH3 is an essential tool for planning Chad’s economic and social development. He called on the population to fully cooperate with census enumerators by providing accurate and reliable information, while highlighting the crucial role of religious and traditional authorities in raising awareness within their communities. According to him, the success of the census depends on the collective commitment of all citizens.
To facilitate the work of field teams, the delegation presented a substantial donation of equipment to the local representative of the National Institute of Statistics, Economic and Demographic Studies (INSEED). The support package included four vehicles to improve the mobility of census workers, two Starlink kits to ensure internet connectivity in remote areas, one power generator, six rechargeable power banks, and five drums of fuel.
In addition to this logistical support, a significant supply of food items was provided to improve the working conditions of census personnel. The donation included bags of sugar, packets of macaroni and spaghetti, sacks of rice, and several containers of cooking oil. The head of the mission also announced the imminent delivery of an additional vehicle and three more fuel drums, demonstrating the commitment to supporting the census until its completion.
The mission extended beyond the town of Ziguey. The delegation visited several sub-prefectures within the department, including Rural Ziguey, Guiliguili, Kali, and Tababa, where it conducted awareness campaigns and held discussions with local authorities, traditional chiefs, and census workers. An orientation meeting was also held with the Sub-Prefect of Djomonga to strengthen coordination of field operations.
At every stop during the tour, the delegation received a warm welcome from local communities, with particularly strong mobilization in Tababa, one of the department’s most populous localities. Concluding the mission, Louky Ousman Bouky praised the commitment of residents, administrative authorities, traditional leaders, and census teams, reaffirming that the success of the RGPH3 is essential to obtaining reliable data that will guide public policymaking and support Chad’s balanced and sustainable development.
