The President of the Republic of Chad and Head of State, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, received the Governor of the Bank of Central African States (BEAC) for an official audience at the Presidential Palace in N’Djamena. The meeting forms part of the ongoing consultations between the Chadian authorities and the regional central bank.
During the audience, discussions focused on the major economic challenges facing the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC), including monetary stability, the strengthening of foreign exchange reserves, financing regional economies, and the outlook for economic growth.
The BEAC Governor briefed the Head of State on the current economic situation across the CEMAC region and outlined the measures being implemented by the central bank to safeguard the stability of the CFA franc while supporting member states in a challenging global economic environment.
For Chad, the meeting was particularly significant as the country continues its efforts to diversify its economy, improve financial governance, and strengthen its macroeconomic fundamentals. The discussions also explored mechanisms to support public policies aimed at boosting economic recovery, encouraging investment, and promoting private sector development.
This audience reflects President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno’s commitment to maintaining close cooperation with regional financial institutions in order to reinforce the partnership between Chad and the BEAC. It also underscores Chad’s determination to deepen economic integration within the CEMAC, with the goal of fostering sustainable growth, financial stability, and shared development across Central Africa.
