The Coalition Article 64 for the Defense of Constitutional Order (C64) announced in a statement issued on July 3, 2026, in Kinshasa that it has accepted an invitation from the President of the Republic of Burundi, who is also the current Chairperson of the African Union, to participate in consultations on the political, security, and institutional situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

According to the coalition, the invitation provides an opportunity to present the concerns of the Congolese people within a regional dialogue framework. C64 stated that it will take part in the consultations in a spirit of responsibility, believing that any credible initiative capable of helping preserve constitutional order deserves careful consideration.

The coalition said it intends to clearly outline the challenges facing the Democratic Republic of the Congo, particularly what it describes as threats to the country’s democracy, institutions, and overall stability.

As a result, C64 has decided to postpone the peaceful demonstration that had been planned in front of the Palais de la Nation. A new date has been set for Wednesday, July 22, 2026. The coalition is also calling on its member organizations across the provinces and within the Congolese diaspora to organize peaceful solidarity marches on the same day, in full compliance with the laws in force.

In conclusion, the Coalition Article 64 urged Congolese citizens to remain mobilized, vigilant, and united. It reaffirmed that defending the Constitution is a collective responsibility and stressed that its commitment to preserving constitutional order remains unwavering.
