The President of the Republic, Head of State, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno, carried out an official visit to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates, at the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates. The Chadian Head of State left N’Djamena at the end of June to travel to the Emirati capital.

Upon his arrival, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno was welcomed by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice-President of the United Arab Emirates, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court. This protocol welcome was followed by talks in the guest of honour lounge, marking the first stage of the visit.

The centrepiece of the visit was the bilateral meeting between the two Heads of State, devoted to strengthening strategic cooperation between Chad and the United Arab Emirates. The two leaders reviewed the implementation of the commitments made under the National Development Plan (NDP) "Chad Connection 2030," whose financing forum had been held in Abu Dhabi in November 2025.

The talks also provided an opportunity to review the main bilateral projects financed by the United Arab Emirates in Chad, particularly in the energy, health, social development and humanitarian action sectors. The two Heads of State also addressed several regional and international issues of common interest.

This visit is part of the continuity of an already dense bilateral cooperation between N’Djamena and Abu Dhabi, illustrated in particular by the Chad–Emirates Trade and Investment Forum held at the end of December 2025 in the Emirati capital.
