Cameroonian petroleum group Tradex is continuing its expansion across Central Africa with the appointment of Georges Bassalang Bolemen as Managing Director of Tradex Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The decision was approved during an extraordinary Board of Directors meeting held in Douala on June 11, 2026. He succeeds Philippe Attang Atomb Bekonj at the helm of this young subsidiary, which is expected to play a strategic role in the group’s development across Central Africa.

A Cameroonian national, Georges Bassalang Bolemen is widely regarded as one of the most experienced executives in the petroleum sector within the sub-region. A petroleum engineer and graduate of the National Higher School of Petroleum and Engines in France, he brings more than twenty years of experience acquired in both Europe and Africa. His professional career has taken him through major industrial companies such as Opel, Mercedes-Benz, Robert Bosch, General Electric, TotalEnergies, and Technip before joining Tradex in 2011.

However, it was in Equatorial Guinea that Georges Bassalang truly made a lasting impact. Appointed in 2019 as the first Managing Director of Tradex Equatorial Guinea, he led the establishment and development of the newly created subsidiary. Under his leadership, the company experienced remarkable growth and emerged as one of the country’s leading petroleum sector players, earning recognition as one of Equatorial Guinea’s benchmark companies.

A tireless worker, disciplined manager, and skilled strategist, Georges Bassalang is often described by colleagues as a hands-on leader capable of turning challenges into opportunities. His tenure in Equatorial Guinea demonstrated his ability to build strong organizational structures, develop efficient distribution networks, and strengthen the Tradex brand’s presence in highly competitive markets.

His appointment as head of Tradex DRC comes at a pivotal moment. The Congolese subsidiary, created to support the group’s expansion into the vast market of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, plans to open its first service stations during the second half of 2026. Expectations are therefore high, and the experience Georges Bassalang gained in Equatorial Guinea represents a major asset for the success of this new mission.

By entrusting the leadership of Tradex DRC to Georges Bassalang Bolemen, Tradex is placing its confidence in a seasoned executive renowned for his professionalism, innovative mindset, and ability to lead ambitious projects. This appointment marks a new chapter in the career of a man who thrives on challenges and whose professional journey continues to inspire many young African executives in the energy sector.
