The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, received Mr. G. Rathinavelu, President and Co-Founder of the Africa India Economic Foundation, during a meeting focused on strengthening economic cooperation between Africa and India.

The courtesy visit comes at a time when relations between the African continent and India are experiencing significant growth, driven by increasing trade, investment, infrastructure partnerships, and technological collaboration between the two regions.

During the discussions, both personalities explored several strategic areas of cooperation, including investment opportunities, innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development mechanisms aimed at supporting Africa’s economic transformation. Particular emphasis was placed on initiatives capable of fostering job creation, technology transfer, capacity building, and support for African entrepreneurs and youth-led businesses.

The two parties also highlighted the importance of aligning this cooperation with the objectives of the Agenda 2063 of the African Union, the continental blueprint designed to accelerate Africa’s integration, industrialization, and long-term prosperity. Agenda 2063 seeks to position Africa as a major global economic player through sustainable growth and enhanced regional cooperation.

In a global context marked by the redefinition of international economic partnerships, the meeting underscored the shared commitment of Africa and India to deepen South-South cooperation and promote mutually beneficial partnerships. India continues to emerge as a key strategic partner for Africa, particularly in sectors such as technology, healthcare, agriculture, energy, education, and digital innovation.

Through this engagement, the African Union and the Africa India Economic Foundation reaffirmed their common ambition to promote economic initiatives capable of driving growth, strengthening entrepreneurship, and supporting sustainable development across the African continent.
