Relations between Chad and Cameroon have taken a new diplomatic step forward. Carrying a personal message from the President of the Republic of Chad, Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Chadians Abroad, Dr. Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul, paid an official visit to Yaoundé on Friday.
Leading a high-level government delegation, Chad’s top diplomat was received at the Unity Palace by Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, Minister of State and Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic of Cameroon, to whom he formally delivered the sealed presidential message addressed to President Paul Biya.
Beyond the delivery of the confidential letter, the meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to engage in extensive discussions on the key issues shaping bilateral relations. Chadian and Cameroonian officials reviewed major matters of common interest and reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening their strategic partnership amid a regional environment marked by growing security, economic, and geopolitical challenges.
The visit reflects the long-standing ties of friendship and cooperation between N’Djamena and Yaoundé, built on strong collaboration in political, economic, trade, energy, security, and infrastructure sectors. Both countries reiterated their determination to further strengthen this exemplary partnership, recognizing it as a key pillar for stability, regional integration, and sustainable development in Central Africa.
The presence within the Chadian delegation of the Minister of Mines, Petroleum and Geology, Mrs. Fatimé Haram Acyl, the Special Adviser to the Head of State, Mahamat Saleh Abdeldjelil, and the Director General of Chad’s Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (ARSAT), Hassan Adoum Younousmi, also underscored the strategic importance of energy and economic cooperation in the bilateral agenda.
At a time when Central Africa continues to face complex security and development challenges, this high-level diplomatic initiative highlights the determination of Chad and Cameroon to strengthen political dialogue, xpand strategic cooperation, and promote a shared vision of peace, security, and prosperity for the benefit of their peoples.
