The President of the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou-N’Guesso, held talks on Sunday, May 24, 2026, with the President of the African Development Bank, Sidi Ould Tah, during a high-level audience focused on strengthening economic and financial cooperation between Congo and the continental institution.
The meeting comes at a time when African nations are intensifying efforts to accelerate development and reinforce strategic partnerships in key sectors such as infrastructure, energy, industrialization, and economic transformation.
Several priority cooperation areas reviewed
During their discussions, both leaders reviewed several priority areas of cooperation, including:
- financing for major development projects;
- modernization of transport and energy infrastructure;
- support for initiatives aimed at diversifying Congo’s economy.
Reforms and economic attractiveness
President Denis Sassou-N’Guesso reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing reforms designed to enhance the country’s economic attractiveness and create a favorable environment for investment.
For his part, Sidi Ould Tah praised Congo’s efforts toward modernization and development while reiterating the bank’s commitment to supporting public policies that promote inclusive and sustainable growth.
The AfDB alongside Central Africa
The audience also highlighted the growing cooperation between the African Development Bank and Central African countries, at a time when regional integration, financial resilience, and industrial transformation remain central priorities for Africa’s development agenda.
